The provincial Department of Community Safety, Roads and Transport on Thursday, 29 August, held the Women in Uniform march – celebrating Women’s Month and also highlighting the impact of rampant gender-based violence (GBV) and femicide in Bloemfontein. The participants held posters with messages denouncing this form of crime, marching from Paradise Hall to the Mangaung Outdoor Sports Complex. They represented various government departments, the SAPS, the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), the Department of Correctional Services and emergency medical services, and were supported by faith organisations and women formations such as Buang Basadi.Photo: Mlungisi Louw
