The creative artwork of Africa’s Big Five game animals at the Mabeoana Primary School in Phahameng, Bloemfontein, is the centre of attention for the public, as well as learners, like this trio enjoying their lunch during a break on 28 August. Perfectly crafted on the wall of one of the classrooms, the artwork forms part of learning about these animals, steeped in the history and rich heritage of Africa. The Big Five is an emblem of South Africa’s wildlife. Each one of these animals carry a weight of cultural significance and ecological importance.
