Honouring those affected by cancer and offering encouragement that there is a way forward

Miss South Africa Plus World, jointly with the organisations Reach for Recovery and the Black Woman Arise Women’s Health Foundation, hosted this year’s Mangaung Breast Cancer Pink Walk at the Mangaung Outdoor Sports Centre on 26 October. Held a second time, the event continued educating the public about the impact of breast cancer, its treatment and the importance of screening to curb the prevalence of the chronic disease, as well as the support that awaits survivors. It is also aimed at paying homage to those whose lives have been claimed by breast cancer. Findings by the National Cancer Registry (NCR) indicate that this type of cancer is most prevalent among women in South Africa, accounting for 20,4% of all cancers diagnosed in women.Photo: Supplied
