BLOEMFONTEIN – Mangaung Metro Executive Mayor Gregory Nthatisi and his team welcomed representatives of Cricket South Africa (CSA) in Bloemfontein on Wednesday 11 March.

The CSA visited the city as it is earmarked to be one of the host cities for the upcoming 2027 Cricket World Cup.

Nthatisi said the hosting of this big event would present an opportunity to promote people-to-people relations, enhance cultural diversity and drive economic development through a multitude of both social and business services.

“Our hope is that this event will once more demonstrate the capacity of our city as a mecca of sports and showcase the hospitality of the people of Mangaung,” said Nthatisi.

“It is therefore very important that this event is centred around the cricket-loving people of Mangaung and all its residents, who will be welcoming local and international cricket fans into their metro.”

Nthatisi said the metro was proud that the Mangaung Oval stadium is internationally accredited and able to host major tournaments of this magnitude.

“We will indeed do our best to contribute all efforts to make the hosting of this event a huge success.”
